RX 7900 XTX Smiles For The Camera
Quasarzone have shared various pictures of AMD’s RX 7900 XTX. The GPU was allegedly tested in various games, although no performance metrics were shown. The design deviates from the RX 6900 XT as the 7900 XTX has a slightly curved shape to it. The reference edition features 3 fans with the ‘RADEON‘ logo highlighted with RGB in the middle. From a side view, the car spans across 2.5 slots wide which is similar to the RX 6900 XT. Three red stripes can be seen on the heatsink, in-line with when AMD first showcased this GPU during their Zen4 reveal. The reference variant ships with a 2×8 pin connector. Aesthetic wise, the GPU has a very slight hint of red which when paired with the overall black theme makes it stand out amongst other GPUs. The RX 7900 XTX is equipped with a rather complementary backplate enhancing the theme of the GPU. In addition, we see 2xDP 2.1 + 1x HDMI 2.1 and a single USB-C port.
Navi31 Pictured
Angstronomics was the first to share the picture of AMD’s Navi31 GPU. Now since the GPU has been officially announced we have a few more images, although this time from quasarzone. Navi31 is the first ever multi-chiplet GPU in the world. This GPU is codenamed ‘Plum Bonito‘ and features a 1xGCD + 6xMCD design along with a maximum of 48WGPs.
RX 7900 XTX
The RX 7900 XTX is based on the Navi31 chip and ships with 12288 FP32 Units or 48 WGPs (Work Group Processors, 1WGP = 256 Shading Units) . The RDNA3 king has 96MB of AMD’s signature Infinity Cache. A 24GB memory configuration (20Gbps) grants it 960GB/s of effective bandwidth over a 384-bit bus. This behemoth is packed with 58B transistors, more than 2x the RX 6900 XT. Proving AMD’s generation-on-generation performance claims, we see a massive 61TFLOPs of compute performance. The average frequency metric termed as ‘Game Clock‘ stands at 2.4GHz. Whereas the base frequencies and boost frequencies are 1.9GHz and 2.5GHz respectively. Team Red really did go all out with these specifications and even then the TDP is rated at just 355W, leagues away from the RTX 4090’s ridiculous 450W figure. The RX 7900 XTX will retail for $999, paving the path for AMD to pull a Ryzen on the GPU market, which is slated for the 13th of December.
