Unfortunately there is no option given to fix this issue and also no user friendly explanation on what to do next or even what this error actually means and why it is happening. You need to know that your computer, no matter what Operating System is installed, consists of different parts. There is the motherboard, the processor, memory, power supply and also the hard disk. All those need to work together and something needs to tell what to do. The second you start your computer and power it on you start a small part on the motherboard which acts like a supervisor of all the other parts in your computer. If you want to start Windows 10, this motherboard supervisor needs to know where Windows 10 is located and what file needs to be executed. This information is usually generated while installing Windows onto your hard drive. If this information gets lost however, the computer is unable to start Windows and will show you a error message, similar to the one above. In short, your computer does not know where your Windows is located and is unable to find it. In this guide I will show you how to bring back your computer into a working state.
Solution 1: Booting to Recovery Environment with Windows installation media.
For solution to work you will need your Windows installation media, which could either be a CD, DVD or USB drive. Boot into the installation media and when you see Press any key to boot from CD or DVD click any key on your keyboard. Now click on Next and then on Repair your computer. Next to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options. Now click on Automatic Repair and select your Operating System from the list. Windows will now check your Operating System for any problems and will automatically try to fix them. This whole process could take a while. Sit back and relax. If Windows is unable to fix your startup problems, try the next solution.
Solution 2: Manual repair
Boot into the installation media and when you see Press any key to boot from CD or DVD click any key on your keyboard. Now click on Next and then on Repair your computer. Next to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options. Now click on command Prompt. A new black window will open. Type in the following command, followed by Enter. The command Bootrec /scanos will give you a list with all the Windows systems found. Please click A and Enter to install them into the boot information and then proceed with the next commands. Bootrec /fixboot Bootrec /scanos Bootrec /rebuildbcd Afterwards try restarting your computer and check if the problem still persists.
